St. Louis, Lidstrom, Eriksson named finalists for the Lady Byng

Another top-three finish in the formula he landed Lady Bing Trophy voting.He, Nicklas Lidstrom finalist six times (Detroit Red Wings) and Loui Eriksson (Dallas Stars) on Thursday were named finalists for the award of "sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high level of ability to play" St. Louis won last year after finishing second from 2007-09. He set a franchise record with 68 assists and his low penalty minute combined career total of last season. Lidstrom has never won the prize and no defenseman has since Red Kelly in 1961, but he finished second or third each season from 1999 to 2003. Lidstrom, also is expected to be announced next week as a finalist for the Norris Trophy as top defenseman, finished in second place among blue liners with 62 points and put together a streak of 11-point game. He had 20 penalty minutes.Eriksson, finalist for the first time spent even less time in the penalty box, eight minutes, the lowest among the top 50. He led the stars in power play goals (10) and game-winning goals (six) and was second with 73 points, a career high and a plus-10 rating. His nine-game assist streak of 28 December 15 Jan tied for the longest in the League this season. Eriksson "is always fun to be recognized for something, I really don't have a lot of penalties when I'm out there," said in a statement released by the team.
