Finalists of Laperriere Emery, Langkow, to Masterton
NEW YORK (AP)-Goaltender Ray Emery (FSY), Anaheim Ducks forward Daymond Langkow (FSY) Calgary Flames and forward Ian Laperriere (FSY) of the Philadelphia Flyers are finalists for the Masterton Trophy. The award honors "perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey".Emery had complicated bone graft surgery on his right hip last April. He was 7-2-0 with a 2. 28 goals-against average and save percentage this season 926.More than a year after a puck hit his spine and fractured a vertebra, Langkow returned to play April 1. Laperriere blocked a shot with his face last season. He was left with a concussion and fractured the orbital bone but returned during the postseason. He tried in vain to return this season, but is mentoring young players in the organization.The winner will be announced on June 22 during the NHL awards show in Las Vegas.
